The AFCA Investigative Interview Practice Lab gives investigators a regular opportunity to conduct realistic investigative interviews, observe other practitioners and receive constructive feedback from experienced investigators.
Explain:
Investigative interviewing courses teach principles, models and techniques, but interviewing is a practical skill.
Investigators may conduct relatively few complex interviews each year.
The Practice Lab provides somewhere to practise difficult interviews without the consequences of making mistakes in a real investigation.
Participants receive an investigation brief containing the allegation, known facts and relevant evidence.

Participants review the material and consider their interview approach.
Selected members conduct live interviews with role-players. Other members observe using the AFCA Interview Observation Guide.

Interviewer, role-player, peers and AFCA facilitator discuss the interview and identify opportunities for improvement.
Members don’t just watch the training—they practise what they learn. Each lesson encourages hands-on application, allowing members to build confidence, develop real skills, and put the strategies into action.
Practice it here before it matters.
